Sarahann Yeh (EL)

Hi everyone! My name is Sarahann, and I’m a senior (eek!) Biological Sciences major with a minor in International Development and Conflict Management minor. Alternative Breaks changed my life sophomore year, when I traveled to Los Andes, Guatemala to learn about sustainable community development. I discovered that service, whether “big” or “small”, starts with your own intentions, and that, even at a young age, we (as college students) can make a difference in this world.  I’ve taken this understanding to my other campus involvements in the Maryland LEAD program, Guided Study Sessions, College Park Scholars, and Omicron Delta Kappa. I’m originally from Gaithersburg, MD, and one day I hope to become a Foreign Service Officer. My passions include intercultural exchange, learning new things, and traveling to new places. Fun Facts? Well I’m obsessed with staring at the sky, dark chocolate is my muse, and I love hiking (even though I’m ridiculously out of shape). I’m super excited to be going on this journey with you to Pine Ridge and beyond! Let’s get pumped!

Fahad Khan (EL)

I'm Fahad, a sophomore Econ and Math major, though I am fundamentally confused about what I should really be doing. I’m from India, and moved to Maryland two years ago. Last year, I participated in the community development AB experience to the New Orleans, and fell in love with the city and with AB.

I enjoy debate, painting, and soccer. I once fell off a bus, and have used that story in every ice-breaker activity since. I have heard only great things about Pine Ridge, and I am incredibly psyched for what will hopefully be an enriching, transformative experience!!

Allison Peters

Hi everybody! My name is Allison Peters and I'm a senior Government and Politics and History double major from Frederick, Maryland. It's been my dream to participate in the Pine Ridge Alternative Break since my sophomore year, so I am SO EXCITED to be joining this stellar group for what I know will be an awesome trip. I've been involved with AB since last year, when I served as an Experience Leader for the Indianapolis trip focusing on disability empowerment and education. When I'm not talking about how pumped I am for this AB, I like to stay busy through my positions as an intern for the Maryland LEAD Program (with my girl Sarahann!), history tutor for Academic Achievement Programs, member of Omicron Delta Kappa, and the President of the Residence Hall Association. My favorite American presidents include Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, and Franklin D. Roosevelt and whatever job I have one day, I just really want to be able to talk about these guys and get paid for it. I'm an awesome contact to have should you ever find yourself on a game show with a "phone a friend" option!
